There are many things to love about this book, from the selection of hymns and background material to the production quality of the book itself. The choice to use the NLT for the verse that accompanies each hymn was a mistake.
Many of the hymns were composed centuries ago and the language is stately & inspiring; the background stories often quite moving. To finish it with a Bible verse written at the 3rd grade level is wrong and feels almost disrespectful.
